Unable to use API

Hi, First Awesome Project

I get some issue on using the REST API

Conf:
-Node v4.4.7
-mongoose 4.5.10
-mongoDB v3.2.9
-Chrome
-Windows 10
-VSCode

started mongod on port 27017 using command "mongod"

started application using VSCODE Launch

try to create new ite,s in databases using the API

I get an empty object []

I tried to use REST Advanced API chrome extension

I receive a 200OK Status with a error

Don't know where the error comes from.

In your console log, look what is the exception thrown

Hi,
I don't get any error in the console log. I just cannot create a new object in the database. I try to understand why. I do start MongoDB service. and use launch from VSCode to start the app. My Spartans database does exist in the default data/db folder. When I try to debug the app with VSCODE i do go through

spartanController.js

    SpartanController.prototype.retrieve = function (req, res) {
        try  {
            var spartanBusiness = new SpartanBusiness();
            spartanBusiness.retrieve(function (error, result) {
                if (error)
                    res.send({ "error": "error" });
                else
                    res.send(result);

which send me back a empty array not an error.
