# Operator

{{#template ../../templates/unimplemented.md}}

Operator is an **Engineering** job that utilizes a variety of remote maintenance drones in order to quickly make repairs and respond to dangerous situations across the station.
While they don't have the physical resiliency of someone like the [Hazmat](./hazmat.md), their fluency in utilizing the immersive drone technology allows them to enter situations which would kill them if they were physically present.

The Operator's main base of operation is the **Drone Mainframe**.
This is a highly-secured chamber with an engrossing console surrounding a large chair with various techy wires crawling out of it.
While wearing a **drone headset**, a character sitting inside the mainframe becomes able to remote into 1 of 3 functional remote drones placed around the station.

## Jack Me ~~Off~~ In

While remotely controlling the drones, the player will be unaware of the state of their body or what is happening to them.
If they fall unconscious or are killed while remotely operating a drone, they will be painfully ejected from the drone, dealing a fair amount of brain damage.
For those that are unskilled (i.e. not the Operator), exiting a remote drone will make them extremely nauseous and sick, inhibiting their capabilities for a moderate duration.

The remote drones themselves have similar physical capabilities to normal humans.
Their embedded energy pack blocks their back slot, preventing them from wearing backpacks, although this is made up for by their strong resistances.
They do not take damage in spaced environments and have a strong resistance to fire.
When sufficiently damaged, they do not die, but rather fall down and break, allowing them to be repaired with a welder, restoring them as usable to the drone operator.

Note that operating a remote drone while it breaks inflicts a similar pain as being forcefully disconnected from a remote drone.

## Minimal Grass Touching

The Operator's social skills have been greatly impacted by their longstanding drone usage, making them a less-than-ideal specimen of the human race.
This manifests mostly in their greasy appearance, unwashed nature, and horrific den that they call a bedroom.

Inside their room, they have a variety of recreational chemicals, including narcotics, hallucinogencis, and a single-use cure for post-drone migraines.
They also maintain a small garden of mushrooms which produce similar effects to their narcotics when ingested.
