I'm excited to announce AdventureLog v0.13.0 "Acadia", a major release focused on helping you see, search, and plan your travels from one place. This update introduces a new dashboard, a full travel calendar, global search, collection PDF exports, smarter maps and geocoding, and a big refresh of self-hosting operations — plus stronger permissions for shared collections.

🏠 New Dashboard

• Added a personalized Dashboard as your adventure hub after login
• At-a-glance travel stats: countries, regions, cities, locations, trips, and activity totals
• Recent locations, upcoming trips, your active trip, and upcoming calendar events in one view

📅 Travel Calendar

• New Calendar page aggregating visits, transport, lodging, trips, notes, and checklists
• Month, week, day, and agenda views with filtering by event type and search
• Event timezone vs. local timezone display options
• Timezone-aware visit date handling and normalization
• Improved all-day vs. timed date handling for locations, lodging, and transportation
• ICS export to view in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or other apps
• Calendar events also surface on the dashboard

🔍 Global Search

• New global search across locations, collections, lodging, transport, notes, checklists, activities, countries, regions, cities, and users
• Dedicated search page with faceted results
• Command palette (quick actions + recent searches) from the navbar

📄 Collection PDF Export

• Export any collection as a printable day-by-day itinerary PDF
• Includes locations, lodging, transport, notes, and related trip details
• Permission-aware: shared users and public collections respect existing access rules

📸 Photos & Image GPS

• Google Maps Photos import when quick-adding locations — preview, select, and import place photos from Google Maps
• Images now store GPS coordinates from EXIF or Immich metadata when available
• HEIF/HEIC image format support for uploads and metadata extraction
• New Photo locations map layer to visualize geotagged images
• Management command to backfill coordinates on existing images: python manage.py backfill_image_coordinates
• Immich v3.0 compatibility with paginated album metadata and visibility settings
• Enhanced Immich GPS coordinate extraction during image uploads

🗺️ Map Improvements

• Category filter dropdown on map views for faster filtering
• Updated adventure stats display on maps
• Random location — jump to a random pin from your eligible locations
• Improved location label resolution for quick-add and map search

🌍 Geocoding Provider Framework

• Refactored geocoding and place search into a provider framework (Google Maps + OpenStreetMap)
• Smarter fallback between providers for reverse geocoding and place search
• More consistent location data handling across the backend and frontend

🤝 Collection Sharing & Permissions

• Stronger permission checks for shared users and anonymous access on collections
• Shared users can fetch and export images and PDFs only when permitted
• Enhanced protected media access with stricter file permission checks
• Expanded test coverage for collection sharing scenarios

🥾 Wanderer Integration Updates

• Wanderer now uses API key authentication (replacing the older username/password flow)
• Author fields on linked trails for proper "Open in Wanderer" links
• Automatic backfill of author metadata when loading older trail links

🏃 Endurain Integration

• New Endurain integration for self-hosted fitness tracking — browse activities and import GPX tracks into visits
• Server-side GPX generation from Endurain GPS streams (no manual download/re-upload)
• MFA/TOTP support for Endurain login with automatic token refresh
• Unified Integrations settings page for managing built-in integrations (Immich, Strava, Endurain, Wanderer, and more)

🌅 Location Visit Enhancements

• Sunrise and sunset times on location visit dates, with server-side caching for performance
• Toggle to show or hide sunrise/sunset per visit date

🛠️ Operations & Self-Hosting

• Overhauled Quick Start installer with an interactive management menu (status, update, backup, restore, logs, restart, uninstall)
• New scripts/backup.sh, scripts/restore.sh, and scripts/deploy.sh with compose auto-detection
• Refactored Docker Compose layouts and updated installation documentation
• S3-compatible media storage support (AWS S3, Cloudflare R2, DigitalOcean Spaces, MinIO)
• Kubernetes manifests under k8s/
