The Play listing and README now present the default product as a safe, general-purpose classroom signal generator. Retro mode is unchanged and stays out of the store text. Refs #15 Co-authored-by: Gregory Gage <gagegeg@backyardbrains.com>

Owner ruling (Greg, 2026-10-12T17:27:18Z): No. I meant on Shopify. We will need a product to link to Spike's note: Greg corrects the earlier product-copy direction — he meant a Shopify product to link to, not (only) Play Store listing copy. |

Owner ruling (Greg, 2026-10-12T17:30:34Z): Ok. Don’t link to it from the main collection menus. It can be in all. But no where else. Spike's note: Follow-up to the Shopify product ruling above — about where that new product shows up in the store. |

Got it. You meant a Shopify product on the Backyard Brains shop, so there is a page to link to — not (only) Play Store text. I cannot create that product from this cloud session. Shopify is not signed in here; that login has to happen in the Cursor desktop app. Here is the draft I would create as unpublished so it is not for sale and does not show in the catalog until you say so:
Description (no roaches, no invented grant number or stats): The BYB Backpack is a small two-channel Bluetooth signal generator for safe, general-purpose microstimulation in K-12 classrooms. Students set frequency, pulse width, duration, gain, and random mode on the phone, then swipe left or right to send a pulse train on either output. Connect through a standard 0.1" header. The backpack and the app were developed with funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The app is free (Android: BYB Backpack; iOS: BYB Remote). You need the BYB Backpack hardware to use it. I will not invent, and I need from you before this can go live:
Once that draft exists, I will put https://backyardbrains.com/products/byb-backpack on the Play listing. I will not publish the listing or merge this PR until you say so. If you connect Shopify in Cursor desktop (or paste the copy above into a new draft product in Shopify admin), say the word and I will create the unpublished product. |

Recorded: when this product exists, it belongs in All Products only. Not Featured, Human, Invertebrate, Plant, Neuroengineering, Accessories, or Shop All, and no extra menu item. The direct page (https://backyardbrains.com/products/byb-backpack) is what the app listing can link to. Shopify is still not signed in on this cloud session, so I have not created it yet. Same TODOs as before (price, SKU, box contents, grant ID, insect-free photo). I will not publish or merge until you say so. |
Greg: you corrected this — you meant a Shopify product to link to, not (only) Play Store text. Placement: All Products only — not the main collection menus (Featured, Human, Invertebrate, Plant, Neuroengineering) and nowhere else. Shopify is not signed in on this cloud session, so the live product was not created. This PR stays a draft with
hold.CI is green. Nothing published.
For testers (plain English)
Nothing to test. The Play store wording in this PR is classroom microstimulation with no roaches. The Shopify product page does not exist yet, so there is no link to try.

What "product" means now
Owner ruling (Greg, 2026-10-12T16:40:33Z): "Can you make a BYB backpack product that talks about generic safe microstimulation funded by NIH for use in K12. No roaches."
Owner ruling (Greg, 2026-10-12T17:27:18Z): "No. I meant on Shopify. We will need a product to link to"
Owner ruling (Greg, 2026-10-12T17:30:34Z): "Ok. Don’t link to it from the main collection menus. It can be in all. But no where else."
The public product is a Shopify catalog entry on backyardbrains.com, handle
byb-backpack. RoboRoach stays at/products/roboroach. BYB Backpack is a separate insect-free page.Collections: only
all-products(All Products). Do not add tofeatured, human, invertibrate, neuroengineering, plant, accessories, orshop-all. No extra nav item. Direct URL is what the Play listing can use. This PR still updates the Play listing and README to the K-12 / NIH wording (no insects, Retro mode unchanged). It does not add a product URL until the Shopify page exists.
Shopify draft (not created — needs store login)
See comments on this PR for the unpublished product draft and collection rule.
