Mac push: cellstore keeps one spelling through linked folders (from #2037) #2053
This draft was closed, unmerged, when the 2026-10-29 Mac stability and performance push was stopped early to save usage. Its branch is kept: reopen the PR or start from the branch, rebase onto the latest base, and finish the steps below.
PR:#2037 (cellstore: a folder that does not exist yet keeps one spelling through linked folders) Branch:fix/cellstore-absent-tree-alias
What it fixes. canonicalTree returned the lexical path when the leaf did not exist yet, so the same folder could have two spellings through a linked parent (macOS /var vs /private/var). It now resolves the longest existing ancestor.
Done. Implementation and tests.
Left. Rebase onto the latest app/v3; full Mac go test ./... vs base; CI comparison; a Codex round; evidence that the path is reachable from the app.
Merged in #2037 (squash 811ca7b on app/v3), rebased onto app/v3 f7422fb. CI on the rebased head (PR gate and Full check, failed jobs re-run once) failed only on tests that also fail on the app/v3 baseline, or that flaked on unrelated branches in the same rounds. Code review of the rebased head: no findings. Not yet exercised on a real Mac: nothing Mac-specific; Linux exercises the linked-folder case. macOS's own system aliases are one instance of it.
