Wrapped lines no longer preserve indentation (Regression) #2504

Describe the bug / provide steps to reproduce it

Hi! First of all, thanks for the recent updates.

I noticed that in older versions of Acode, wrapped lines automatically preserved the indentation of the original line. This made long JavaScript, JSON, and TypeScript code much easier to read.

In the latest version, wrapped lines start from the left margin instead of following the indentation level.

Old behavior:
const response = await
fetch("https://api.example.com");

Image

Current behavior:
const response = await
fetch("https://api.example.com");

Image

This appears to be a regression, since previous versions handled wrapped indentation correctly.

Could this behavior be restored, or could an option such as "Wrapped Line Indent" / "Indented Soft Wrap" be added in the editor settings?

Thank you!

    @Jahnslay

    This has still not been fixed even on the latest v1.13.1 which was released today. The app is almost unusable because of this, and selected texts are not being highlighted. Pls fix this, thank you.

    @Jahnslay

    @bajrangCoder pls fix this. Even the latest version of this app has this issue and it makes the app unusable. This has prompted me to use an older version of the app.

    I'm using android 15
    Downloaded the app from Playstore and fdroid.

    Two issues:

    1. Selected text is not highlighted, expecially on vscode theme.
    2. Text wrapping is broken.
    3. Vscode theme now looks washed out. I would know cos it's the only theme I've been using on the app for years.

    @bajrangCoder Please fix this, i still use an old version of the app

    @Jahnslay

    Update:
    App v1.13.2
    Android 15

    Observation:
    Editor is still unusable. Developers have completely ignored the malfunction on wrapped lines, and selected text is still not highlited on vscode theme.

    @radenrudun Have they fixed any of these issues, or is it safe to download the latest version of the app?

    @Jahnslay

    @Jahnslay, how can you say it’s not working? Have you even tested the latest nightly build that includes this fix?

    @bajrangCoder - Yes I've tested it. @Afam007 's comment above , explains this better.

    @bajrangCoder Thanks for the fix , wrapped lines preserve indentation, but it still needs an offset after the wrap like this. notice the space, that's what @Jahnslay is talking about
    Image

    this is the current state now
    Image

    If that's the case, then it's more of a personal preference than something being broken. Especially on mobile, where screen space is already limited, larger indentation can make large files harder to read. Even editors like VS Code and Zed default to similar behavior.

    Anyway, I'll add a setting in the UI so users who prefer a different indentation level can adjust it themselves. But calling the current behavior "broken" doesn't really make sense.

    @bajrangCoder yes I agree, if the offset could be adjusted too that would the nice, the one in the above image I sent is alot for me personally, I would prefer as little as possible, as long as the wrapped line is not directly under the start of the parent line, thank you 🙏

    @bajrangCoder - Thank you, the latest version you just released fixed the issue with that setting config, and pls, in the future, never assume users will simply not mind you removing something this essential. Indenting just 2 spaces to have a neat looking file is not optional, it's necessary for majority of people.

    @Jahnslay

    @bajrangCoder There are two more issues with the app.

    1. The line numbers tab grows too big for No reason ON SOME. FILES. Yes, it only happens on some files, e.g: it doesn't happen on the settings.json files, and I've examined the file that this happens on, and it contains a lot of code and that is also not the problem at all, since older versions of this app does not have this bug
    Image
    1. The fade widgets do not display in some places, and I have not turned on "fade fold widgets".
    Image

    Please fix these as soon as you can, expecially the line numbers thing, because this is actually bothering people more than 2 spaces for indentation.

    1. That's because LSP needs enough spaces to show lint related icons on gutter (you can turn "Show lint gutter" off from settings) , there is no LSP attached for settings.json. but keep in mind, turning that off will not show any LSP/lint related error/warning/info icon on gutter
    2. We'll check , it seems some css issue.

    @Afam007

    @bajrangCoder I think the word wrap only breaks at whitespace , usual behavior is to break after a comma or word

    Image

    chars like "=" should act like a delimeter too, there's no whitespace before the "="

    Image
  21. Afam007 commented on Sep 12, 2026

    @Afam007

    From usual behavior breaks can be made around any char " , ( as long as it doesn't break a word

  22. Afam007 commented on Sep 14, 2026

    @Afam007

    @bajrangCoder Apologies, a bit lazy to open a new issue.
    The gutter space issue, I think the line numbers takes more space depending on the number of digits, and there's a bit extra space around the lsp gutter icons that I think could be optimized, also fading fold widgets doesn't give more space.

    Another thing to add, lsp formatting not working, with no logs I can see.

  23. Jahnslay commented on Sep 14, 2026

    @Jahnslay

    @bajrangCoder Fold all does not work at all sometimes, and when it works, it only folds code in the upper part of the file, and I'm not talking about nested code here, although it fails at that too. The code I'm folding is top level, they are express js api routes, and the "fold all" only folds a few of them in a large file, meanwhile the older version if this app, specifically v1.11.7 , works perfectly. It seems a lot of things are broken in the latest versions of this app and some have been rendered less effective, the fold alldoes not even fold nested code well.
