### DeepSeek Harness installation and runtime state

`runtime="dsh"` follows the Codex-style installation model, not PiAgent's first-run downloader model:

- **Binary acquisition happens at install time.** `veadk-python[dsh]` depends on `deepseek-harness-sdk`, and that SDK depends on the matching `deepseek-harness-runtime-bin`. The `dsh` executable arrives with the wheel; VeADK does not download a binary on the first turn.
- **Startup is lazy.** Importing VeADK or constructing `Agent(...)` does not start DSH. The SDK starts the bundled `dsh` subprocess when execution first reaches `DeepSeekHarnessRuntime.run_async`.
- **Long-lived sidecar.** One effective runtime configuration reuses one `DeepSeekHarness` SDK object and DSH subprocess. The same VeADK app/user/session/agent maps to a stable DSH `session_id`.
- **VeADK session as short-term memory.** Like Codex, DSH receives the visible ADK session history as structured conversation data in the prompt. The DSH session id is still stable, but VeADK/ADK session history remains the source of truth for short-term memory.
- **Callback-selected model.** A before-model callback may update `llm_request.model`; DSH uses that final model when choosing the SDK config and manager.
- **Native tool plugin bridge.** VeADK expands ADK function tools and ADK/MCP toolsets before the DSH run, generates a DSH `defineTool` plugin patch, and serves actual tool execution through an authenticated loopback callback server. `sub_agents` use the same injected `transfer_to_agent` path as other external runtimes.
- **Native skill bridge.** VeADK materializes ADK `SkillToolset` and legacy skills into an isolated skill root, then registers DSH's native `@deepseek-ai/dsh-skill`, `@deepseek-ai/dsh-skill-filesystem`, and `@deepseek-ai/dsh-tool-skill` plugins. The materialized skill content participates in the runtime manager key.
- **ADK event mapping.** Root-session DSH assistant stream chunks become ADK partial model events. DSH native `tool/call` and `tool/result` events become ADK function call/response events, while VeADK-bridged Python tool events are de-duplicated.
- **Provider aliases.** You may omit `provider`, use `provider="openai"` for the common OpenAI-compatible convention, or use `provider="volcengine"` / `provider="third-party"` for endpoints such as Ark. VeADK maps those aliases to the current DSH adapter name and still passes your explicit `base_url` and `api_key`. The DSH-native `deepseek-official` provider name also remains valid.
- **Explicit `DSH_HOME`.** When `dsh_home` is not configured, VeADK generates an isolated process-owned directory and passes it to the SDK. It never implicitly uses `~/.dsh`. Configure a persistent `dsh_home` when DSH sessions must survive process restarts.

```python title="agent.py"
import os
from veadk import Agent
from veadk.runtime.deepseek_harness import DeepSeekHarnessRuntimeConfig
agent = Agent(
 provider="volcengine",
 profile="sdk-minimal",
 # dsh_home="/var/lib/my-app/dsh", # set explicitly for persistence
 ),
)
```

DeepSeek Harness emits ADK partial stream events, ADK tool call/response events for both bridged Python tools and DSH-native skill/tool events, and one final model event for the completed non-transfer turn. `enable_skills_checklist` is not enforced inside DSH's native skill loader, and descendant DSH subagent session notifications are not yet projected as first-class child-session UI events.

`sub_agents` 使用与其他外部 runtime 相同的注入式 `transfer_to_agent` 路径。
** Root-session DSH assistant stream chunks 会变成 ADK partial model events。
- **显式 `DSH_HOME`。

```python title="agent.py"
import os
 provider="volcengine",
 profile="sdk-minimal",
 # dsh_home="/var/lib/my-app/dsh", # 需要持久化时显式配置
 ),
)
```

# deepseek_harness_runtime

An end-to-end acceptance example for `Agent(runtime="dsh")`.

It verifies the parts that should line up with the Codex-style runtime contract:

- streaming partial output
- ADK `SkillToolset` materialized into DSH native skills
- automatic long-term memory saving and direct retrieval
- SQLite short-term memory across turns
- OpenTelemetry observability through an ADK-shaped `call_llm` span

## Run

```bash
uv run --extra dev --extra dsh python examples/deepseek_harness_runtime/main.py
```

By default the example uses the `viking` long-term-memory backend because it can
use Volcengine AK/SK already present in the environment. You can override it:

```bash
uv run --extra dev --extra dsh python examples/deepseek_harness_runtime/main.py \
 --long-term-backend openviking
```

The runtime name is the canonical `dsh`.

The example defaults to the user-facing provider alias `volcengine` and the
`sdk-minimal` DSH profile:

```bash
VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_PROVIDER=volcengine
VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_PROFILE=sdk-minimal
MODEL_AGENT_API_BASE=https://ark.cn-beijing.volces.com/api/v3
MODEL_AGENT_NAME=doubao-seed-2-1-pro-260628
```

Omitting the provider, `openai`, `volcengine`, `volcengine-ark`, `ark`,
`openai-compatible`, and `third-party` are all accepted VeADK entries for
third-party OpenAI-compatible endpoints. The current DSH wheel receives them
through its registered `deepseek-official` adapter while VeADK keeps passing the
explicit model, base URL, and API key.

## What Passes

The script prints one `PASS`/`FAIL` line per capability and includes evidence:
partial chunk count, skill output, SQLite session event count, direct memory
search result count after a session switch, trace id, and trace dump path.

No credentials are stored in this directory. All model, DSH, tracing exporter,
and memory backend credentials are read from environment variables.

Streaming and skill checks require a usable model endpoint because they inspect
DSH assistant stream chunks and the final skill sentinel.

# deepseek_harness_runtime

这是 `Agent(runtime="dsh")` 的端到端验收示例。

```bash
uv run --extra dev --extra dsh python examples/deepseek_harness_runtime/main.py
```

```bash
uv run --extra dev --extra dsh python examples/deepseek_harness_runtime/main.py \
 --long-term-backend openviking
```

DSH `sdk-minimal` profile:

```bash
VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_PROVIDER=volcengine
VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_PROFILE=sdk-minimal
MODEL_AGENT_API_BASE=https://ark.cn-beijing.volces.com/api/v3
MODEL_AGENT_NAME=doubao-seed-2-1-pro-260628
```

不填 provider、`openai`、`volcengine`、`volcengine-ark`、`ark`、`openai-compatible`
model、base URL 和 API key。

# DSH Runtime

[中文版](2026-10-15-deepseek-harness-runtime.zh.md)

## Metadata

- **Change ID:** `deepseek-harness-runtime`
- **Created / revised:** 2026-10-15 / 2026-10-15
- **Lifecycle status:** implemented
- **Related component spec:** [Runtime DeepSeek Harness](../../../specs/runtime-deepseek-harness/README.md)
- **Owner areas:** `veadk.agent`, `veadk.runtime`, optional dependencies, runtime documentation, runtime tests.

## Background and Evidence

VeADK currently exposes three `Agent.runtime` values: `adk`, `codex`, and `piagent`. `codex` is installed through the `codex` extra: the Python SDK package pins a matching binary wheel. `piagent` resolves or downloads its binary on first runtime use.

DeepSeek Harness already ships a Python SDK package named `deepseek-harness-sdk==0.1.5rc1`. Its import package is `deepseek_harness`; the SDK depends on `deepseek-harness-runtime-bin==0.1.5rc1`, which contains the bundled `dsh` executable for supported platforms. The SDK requires an explicit `dsh_home` or non-empty `DSH_HOME`; it never falls back to `~/.dsh`. `DeepSeekHarness` starts its subprocess lazily and reuses it across `run()` calls.

Live SDK inspection on 2026-10-15 showed that the packaged DSH profile can start with the native provider name `deepseek-official`, while `volcengine`, `ark`, `volcengine-ark`, `openai`, `openai-compatible`, `third-party`, `doubao`, and `deepseek` are not registered DSH adapter names in the current wheel. VeADK therefore owns user-facing provider aliases for Volcengine and third-party OpenAI-compatible endpoints and maps them to the DSH adapter that currently accepts explicit `base_url` and `api_key`.

Assumptions that remain intentionally bounded:

- DSH native tool plugins are registered through the documented Cordis `ctx.tools.register(defineTool(...))` extension path.
- DSH skills are registered through the documented native `@deepseek-ai/dsh-skill`, `@deepseek-ai/dsh-skill-filesystem`, and `@deepseek-ai/dsh-tool-skill` plugins.
- DSH notifications are mapped for root-session assistant stream chunks and native tool call/result events; descendant session notifications are retained for future expansion but do not replace the root final response.

## Goals

- Add `runtime="dsh"` as a public Python SDK runtime value.
- Install DSH through a VeADK optional extra that depends on the Python SDK and its transitive runtime binary package.
- Start DSH lazily on first turn, not at import or `Agent(...)` construction time.
- Reuse a long-lived DSH SDK object per effective runtime configuration, with stable DSH session IDs derived from VeADK app/user/session/agent identity.
- Bridge ADK function tools and ADK/MCP toolsets into DSH as native tools through a generated DSH plugin and a local authenticated Python callback server.
- Bridge ADK sub-agent transfer through the same injected `transfer_to_agent` tool used by other external runtimes.
- Bridge ADK `SkillToolset` and legacy VeADK skills through DSH's native filesystem skill provider and `skill` loader tool.
- Stream DSH assistant deltas and native tool call/result events back as ADK events while preserving after-model callback semantics for the final response.
- Keep VeADK/ADK session history as the short-term memory source of truth by serializing visible session history into DSH prompts, matching the Codex runtime contract.
- Honor model changes made by before-model callbacks when selecting the DSH SDK config and cached manager.
- Use an explicit isolated `DSH_HOME` by default, with a configuration override for persistent deployments.
- Support omitted provider values and user-facing `openai`, `volcengine`, `volcengine-ark`, `ark`, `openai-compatible`, and `third-party` provider aliases without requiring callers to know the current DSH adapter name.
- Provide clear errors when the optional extra is missing.
- Document the lifecycle differences from Codex and PiAgent.

## Non-goals

- Do not build a custom VeADK first-run downloader for the `dsh` binary.
- Do not claim ADK `enable_skills_checklist` enforcement inside DSH's native skill loader.
- Do not implement a complete UI projection for descendant DSH subagent session notifications in this change.
- Do not add frontend Studio DeepSeek Harness behavior; Studio already has a separate DeepSeek Harness sandbox path.
- Do not run live provider calls as part of ordinary unit tests.

## Scenarios and Requirements

- **FR-1 — Runtime selection.** Given an agent constructed with `runtime="dsh"`, when it runs, VeADK dispatches to the DSH runtime instead of the ADK LLM flow.
- **FR-2 — Optional dependency boundary.** Given a default VeADK installation without DSH, when code resolves the runtime, the error names the missing extra and installation command.
- **FR-3 — Binary acquisition.** Given `veadk-python[dsh]` is installed, the matching `dsh` binary is acquired through `deepseek-harness-runtime-bin`; VeADK performs no runtime download.
- **FR-4 — Lazy startup.** Given a process imports VeADK or constructs an agent, DSH is not started until a turn reaches `DeepSeekHarnessRuntime.run_async`.
- **FR-5 — Session identity.** Given repeated turns for the same `app_name`, `user_id`, `session_id`, and agent name, VeADK passes the same DSH `session_id`.
- **FR-6 — Isolated home.** Given no `dsh_home` is configured, VeADK creates an explicit process-owned `DSH_HOME` under a temporary root and passes it to the SDK.
- **FR-7 — Callback compatibility.** Given model callbacks are configured, before/after/error model callbacks fire at the same coarse per-turn boundary used by other external runtimes.
- **FR-8 — Tool bridge.** Given ADK function tools or ADK/MCP toolsets are configured, VeADK exposes them as DSH native tools through `defineTool`, executes them in Python, and emits the corresponding ADK tool events.
- **FR-9 — Sub-agent transfer.** Given transfer-capable `sub_agents` are configured, VeADK exposes `transfer_to_agent`; when DSH calls it, VeADK runs the target agent and suppresses the DSH final text for that turn.
- **FR-10 — Skill bridge.** Given ADK `SkillToolset` or legacy VeADK skills are configured, VeADK materializes them to an isolated skill root, registers DSH's native skill plugins with `includeDefaultRoots=false`, and includes the skill content digest in the manager key.
- **FR-11 — Event mapping.** Given DSH emits root-session assistant stream chunks or native tool call/result events, VeADK maps them to ADK partial model events and function call/response events without duplicating VeADK-bridged Python tool events.
- **FR-12 — Codex-aligned short-term context and model callbacks.** Given ADK session history exists, DSH receives it as structured conversation data in the prompt. Given a before-model callback mutates `llm_request.model`, DSH uses the mutated model for manager selection and SDK config.
- **FR-13 — Honest limitations.** Given unsupported ADK flow features, VeADK warns or errors through the existing runtime support matrix and documentation rather than silently claiming equivalence.
- **FR-14 — Provider aliases.** Given config `provider` is omitted, blank, `openai`, `volcengine`, `volcengine-ark`, `ark`, `openai-compatible`, or `third-party`, VeADK resolves a valid user-facing configuration and passes DSH the currently registered OpenAI-compatible adapter provider.

## Design and Contract Impact

The selected design matches Codex's dependency-acquisition model: add a `dsh` optional extra that pins `deepseek-harness-sdk==0.1.5rc1`, letting that package bring the matching runtime binary wheel. This is preferred over the PiAgent-style first-run downloader because DSH already publishes an SDK/runtime-bin pair, so VeADK should not duplicate platform selection, cache management, and version coupling logic.

The runtime package is `veadk.runtime.deepseek_harness`. Its public config class is `DeepSeekHarnessRuntimeConfig`. `Agent` gains `deepseek_harness_runtime_config`, accepting either that config or a dict.

Effective DSH configuration resolves as:

1. Agent `deepseek_harness_runtime_config`.
2. Narrow environment overrides with the `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_*` prefix.
3. Agent model fields for model name, API base, and API key when no DSH-specific override is set.
4. Conservative defaults (`provider="deepseek-official"`, `profile="sdk-minimal"`). `sdk-minimal` lets VeADK inject the DSH tool and skill plugins it owns, while a caller may still opt into DSH's fuller `sdk` profile.

Provider handling is intentionally two-layered. `DeepSeekHarnessRuntimeConfig.provider` remains the user-facing provider name. Blank provider values normalize to `deepseek-official`. The runtime maps the aliases `openai`, `volcengine`, `volcengine-ark`, `ark`, `openai-compatible`, and `third-party` to DSH's current `deepseek-official` adapter before constructing `DeepSeekHarnessConfig`. Unknown provider names are passed through so future DSH-native providers can work without a VeADK release.

State and lifecycle:

- One `DeepSeekHarness` manager is cached per effective process configuration.
- The manager starts lazily and is closed at interpreter exit.
- A generated `DSH_HOME` lives under a process-owned temp root unless `dsh_home` is configured.
- The manager key includes the bridged DSH tool schema digest. Each manager owns a long-lived localhost tool bridge and a generated DSH plugin patch when tools are present.
- The manager key includes the materialized skill content digest. Each manager owns its DSH skill patch and skill root when skills are present.
- Turns on the same manager are serialized. During one active turn, the manager binds the current ADK tool bundle to its bridge and clears it after the SDK call returns.
- The DSH session id is a SHA-256 based stable ID over VeADK app/user/session/agent identity.
- The DSH prompt serializes the callback-visible `LlmRequest.contents` into structured prior conversation and current-message blocks. This keeps ADK session history, not DSH's private session state alone, as the portable short-term memory contract shared with Codex.

Security:

- The SDK subprocess inherits the process environment by default, matching DSH SDK behavior. Configured `env`, `base_url`, and `api_key` are explicit overrides.
- The runtime does not invent a sandbox policy. DSH profile behavior is owned by DSH.
- Tool bridge calls are accepted only on loopback and require a per-manager bearer token embedded in the generated DSH plugin.
- The generated `DSH_HOME` avoids implicit writes to `~/.dsh`.

Compatibility:

- Existing `adk`, `codex`, and `piagent` behavior is unchanged.
- The new runtime is opt-in by both runtime value and extra dependency.
- Missing extra failures are import-time-on-resolution, not package import failures.

Component contract impact: a new component spec is required because this changes public runtime values, optional dependency behavior, session state, sidecar lifecycle, and configuration semantics.

Required follow-up verification before release:

- Dependency install smoke on each published wheel platform supported by DSH.
- Optional live DSH smoke only with an isolated API key and explicit authorization.

Additional verification run on 2026-10-15:

- `uv run --extra dev ruff check veadk/runtime/deepseek_harness tests/runtime/deepseek_harness/test_deepseek_harness_runtime.py examples/deepseek_harness_runtime/main.py` — blocked in this checkout because the `ruff` executable is not installed in the active environment. The broader dev-dependency cleanup was not retained because it is outside this runtime change.
- `uv run --extra dev pytest tests/runtime/deepseek_harness -q` — pass, 15 passed, 1 warning.
- `uv run --extra dev --extra dsh pytest tests/runtime/deepseek_harness -q` — pass, 15 passed, 1 warning.
- `uv run --extra dev pytest tests/runtime/deepseek_harness tests/runtime/differential/test_runtime_parity.py::test_model_fallbacks_warn_for_external_runtime -q` — pass, 16 passed, 1 warning.
- `uv run --extra dev --extra dsh python examples/deepseek_harness_runtime/main.py --sqlite-path /tmp/veadk_dsh_runtime_acceptance_final_check.sqlite` — pass with the prepared environment. The live run uses separate skill and memory runners and proved all five example checks: `streaming` reported 2 partial chunks, `skill` returned `DSH-SKILL-OK`, `short_term_memory_sqlite` persisted 6 session events and recalled the session secret, `long_term_memory_auto_save` found 1 direct long-term-memory match after a session switch, and `observability` recorded 15 matched spans including 5 `call_llm` spans.
- `uv run --extra dev pytest -n 2 -m "not codex_smoke and not piagent_smoke"` — pass, 7065 passed, 50 skipped, 4 xfailed, 82 warnings. The local metrics exporter reported transient `localhost:8000` unavailable messages after the pytest result, but pytest completed successfully.
- `npm --prefix docs run lint` — not retained as a release signal for this change. Temporary docs-toolchain and formatting fixes were reverted because they touched site-wide docs files outside the DSH runtime scope.
- `npm --prefix docs run types:check` — not retained as a release signal for this change for the same scope reason.

Additional review-fix verification run on 2026-10-16:

- `uv run --no-sync --extra dev --extra dsh pytest tests/runtime/deepseek_harness -q` — pass, 20 passed, 1 warning. This covers `additionalProperties` preservation, persistent `dsh_home` cleanup registration, process-private tool plugin paths, cancellation without closing the shared manager, and sub-agent transfer execution.
- `uv run --no-sync --extra dev --extra dsh pytest tests/runtime/piagent/test_piagent_runtime.py::test_build_executable_tools_custom_runtime_label_controls_logs -q` — pass, 1 passed, 1 warning.
- `uv run --extra dev pre-commit run --files veadk/runtime/deepseek_harness/tool_runtime.py veadk/runtime/deepseek_harness/runtime.py tests/runtime/deepseek_harness/test_deepseek_harness_runtime.py docs/content/docs/framework/agent/runtime.en.mdx docs/content/docs/framework/agent/runtime.mdx specs/runtime-deepseek-harness/README.md specs/runtime-deepseek-harness/README.zh.md` — pass.

## Risks and Open Questions

- DSH SDK is currently `0.1.5rc1`; the release-candidate pin should be revisited before a stable VeADK release.
- `enable_skills_checklist` is not enforced for DSH native skill loading because that checklist is an ADK before-tool callback.
- Descendant DSH subagent session notifications are not yet projected as first-class ADK child-session events.
- A persistent `dsh_home` may contain durable DSH session data; operators are responsible for retention and cleanup when they configure one.

## Review and Delivery Record

- User approved the extra-based SDK/runtime-bin direction and requested implementation on 2026-10-15.
- Direct design review was performed because no repository `review-spec` skill is available in this session. Findings:
 - Dependency acquisition must not duplicate DSH's runtime-bin wheel.
 - `DSH_HOME` must be explicit because the SDK requires it and avoids global state.
 - ADK/MCP tools must use the documented DSH tool plugin path; skills must use the documented DSH native skill plugins rather than ordinary tool expansion.
 - Runtime support-matrix warnings must include the new non-ADK runtime.
- Blocking findings: none after the limitations above were made explicit.

# DeepSeek Harness 运行时

[English](2026-10-15-deepseek-harness-runtime.md)

ID:** `deepseek-harness-runtime`
Runtime DeepSeek Harness](../../../specs/runtime-deepseek-harness/README.zh.md)
- **所属区域:** `veadk.agent`、`veadk.runtime`、可选依赖、运行时文档、运行时测试。

- DSH 原生工具插件通过已文档化的 Cordis `ctx.tools.register(defineTool(...))` 扩展路径注册。

** 给定配置了 model callback,before/after/error model callback 在与其他外部 runtime 相同的粗粒度 per-turn 边界执行。

runtime 包路径为 `veadk.runtime.deepseek_harness`。 `Agent` 增加 `deepseek_harness_runtime_config`,接受该配置或 dict。

1. Agent 的 `deepseek_harness_runtime_config`。
2. `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_*` 前缀的窄环境变量覆盖。
4. 保守默认值(`provider="deepseek-official"`、`profile="sdk-minimal"`)。

`DeepSeekHarnessRuntimeConfig.provider` 保持用户可见 provider 名称。

- **T-3:** 扩展 `Agent.runtime`、新增 `deepseek_harness_runtime_config`,并从 `veadk.runtime.get_runtime` 调度。

- `uv run --extra dev ruff check veadk/runtime/deepseek_harness tests/runtime/deepseek_harness/test_deepseek_harness_runtime.py examples/deepseek_harness_runtime/main.py` — blocked,当前 checkout 的活动环境未安装 `ruff` 可执行文件。
- `uv run --extra dev pytest tests/runtime/deepseek_harness -q` — pass,15 passed,1 warning。
- `uv run --extra dev --extra dsh pytest tests/runtime/deepseek_harness -q` — pass,15 passed,1 warning。

- `uv run --extra dev --extra dsh python examples/deepseek_harness_runtime/main.py --sqlite-path /tmp/veadk_dsh_runtime_acceptance_final_check.sqlite` — pass,使用已准备环境真实运行。
- `uv run --extra dev pytest -n 2 -m "not codex_smoke and not piagent_smoke"` — pass,7065 passed,50 skipped,4 xfailed,82 warnings。

- `uv run --no-sync --extra dev --extra dsh pytest tests/runtime/deepseek_harness -q` — pass,20 passed,1 warning。
- `uv run --no-sync --extra dev --extra dsh pytest tests/runtime/piagent/test_piagent_runtime.py::test_build_executable_tools_custom_runtime_label_controls_logs -q` — pass,1 passed,1 warning。

# Runtime DeepSeek Harness Component

[中文版](README.zh.md)

## Metadata and Scope

- **Component ID:** `runtime-deepseek-harness`
- **Status:** active
- **Revision date:** 2026-10-15
- **Owned code:** `veadk/runtime/deepseek_harness/`, `veadk/runtime/__init__.py`, `veadk/agent.py` runtime fields, runtime support matrix entries.
- **Primary tests:** `tests/runtime/deepseek_harness/`
- **Related PRD:** [DSH Runtime](../../prd-spec/features/deepseek-harness-runtime/2026-10-15-deepseek-harness-runtime.md)
- **Dependent components:** Agent execution, runtime compatibility, optional dependency metadata, user runtime documentation.

## Responsibility and Non-goals

This component owns the Python SDK bridge between `Agent(runtime="dsh")` and the local DeepSeek Harness SDK runtime. It resolves runtime configuration, manages the long-lived SDK object and explicit `DSH_HOME`, maps VeADK session identity to DSH session identity, bridges ADK/MCP tools through DSH native tool plugins, bridges skills through DSH's native filesystem skill provider, and emits ADK-compatible partial, tool, and final response events.

It does not own DSH profile behavior, provider authentication semantics inside DSH, the bundled binary build pipeline, Studio's separate DeepSeek Harness sandbox flow, ADK skill checklist enforcement inside DSH's native skill loader, or descendant-session UI projection.

## Entry Points and Dependencies

- Public runtime value: `Agent(runtime="dsh")`.
- Public config import: `from veadk.runtime.deepseek_harness import DeepSeekHarnessRuntimeConfig`.
- Optional dependency: `veadk-python[dsh]`, which installs `deepseek-harness-sdk==0.1.5rc1` and the matching transitive `deepseek-harness-runtime-bin`.
- External SDK import: `deepseek_harness`.
- Runtime dispatch: `veadk.runtime.get_runtime("dsh")`.

## Contract

- **CON-1 — Runtime value.** `dsh` is the stable public runtime identifier. Unknown spellings are rejected by `Agent` or `get_runtime`.
- **CON-2 — Optional dependency.** Importing VeADK without the DSH extra succeeds. Resolving the DSH runtime without the SDK raises `ImportError` with `pip install "veadk-python[dsh]"`.
- **CON-3 — Config source.** `deepseek_harness_runtime_config` accepts a `DeepSeekHarnessRuntimeConfig` instance or dict. Environment variables with the `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_*` prefix override matching fields.
- **CON-4 — Model resolution.** If config `model` is unset, the runtime uses the first `Agent.model_name` entry. ADK before-model callbacks may mutate `llm_request.model`; the mutated model is used when selecting the DSH manager and SDK config.
- **CON-4a — Provider aliases.** Config `provider` is the user-facing provider name and defaults to `deepseek-official`; blank values normalize to that default. The aliases `openai`, `volcengine`, `volcengine-ark`, `ark`, `openai-compatible`, and `third-party` are mapped to the current DSH `deepseek-official` adapter before SDK construction. Unknown provider names are passed through unchanged for future DSH-native adapters.
- **CON-5 — Lazy sidecar.** No DSH subprocess starts during module import, runtime lookup, or agent construction. The SDK object starts from the first actual turn.
- **CON-6 — Explicit home.** When `dsh_home` is unset, the runtime creates and passes a non-empty generated DSH home. It never relies on implicit `~/.dsh`.
- **CON-7 — Session mapping and short-term context.** DSH `session_id` is stable for the tuple `(app_name, user_id, session_id, agent name)`. The prompt also serializes the visible ADK session history into a structured `` block, keeping VeADK/ADK session state as the short-term memory source of truth rather than relying only on DSH's internal session state.
- **CON-8 — Tool bridge.** ADK function tools and ADK/MCP toolsets are expanded before the DSH run, registered as DSH native tools through a generated `defineTool` plugin patch, executed in Python through an authenticated loopback bridge, and emitted as ADK tool call/response events.
- **CON-9 — Sub-agent transfer.** Transfer-capable `sub_agents` are exposed through the injected `transfer_to_agent` tool. A transfer response runs the target agent and suppresses the DSH final text for that turn.
- **CON-10 — Skill bridge.** ADK `SkillToolset` and legacy VeADK skills are materialized into an isolated skill root. The runtime registers `@deepseek-ai/dsh-skill`, `@deepseek-ai/dsh-skill-filesystem` with `includeDefaultRoots=false`, and `@deepseek-ai/dsh-tool-skill` through a DSH patch. The materialized skill content digest participates in the manager key.
- **CON-11 — Event mapping.** Root-session DSH assistant stream chunks are emitted as ADK partial model events. DSH native `tool/call` and `tool/result` events are emitted as ADK function call/response events, excluding VeADK-bridged Python tool names to avoid duplicates.
- **CON-12 — Event output.** Each completed non-transfer DSH run emits one ADK model event containing `RunResult.final_response` after ADK after-model callbacks. Empty DSH final responses are represented as an empty final model response.
- **CON-13 — Unsupported surfaces.** ADK flow-only features remain covered by `veadk.runtime.compat`. ADK skill checklist enforcement and full descendant-session projection are not part of this component's active contract.

## State and Concurrency

Effective runtime configurations are keyed after resolving model, provider, DSH profile, homes, paths, timeouts, explicit environment overrides, the bridged DSH tool schema digest, and the materialized skill content digest. Each key owns one `DeepSeekHarness` instance, one generated `dsh_home` when applicable, one long-lived tool bridge/plugin patch when tools are present, and one native DSH skill patch/root when skills are present. Tool plugin files are written under a manager-private temporary directory, not under shared `dsh_home`, so persistent homes can be reused across processes without overwriting the per-process bridge token. Managers are closed at process exit.

Turns sharing a manager are serialized with an async lock. This avoids undocumented concurrent access to one SDK stdio client. Multiple different manager keys may run independently.

Cancellation from the surrounding task cannot reliably cancel one in-flight DSH `run()` call through the current synchronous SDK. The component preserves the shared manager and keeps its lock until the synchronous SDK call returns, then propagates cancellation. It does not claim graceful per-turn cancellation.

Tool bridge calls are accepted only while the manager lock owns an active turn. The bridge rejects calls without the per-manager bearer token or without an active ADK tool bundle.

## Data and Configuration

Configuration fields:

- `provider`, `model`, `reasoning_effort`, `max_tokens`
- `cwd`, `runtime_cwd`, `dsh_bin`, `profile`, `patches`, `dsh_home`
- `env`, `initialize_timeout_seconds`, `request_timeout_seconds`, `shutdown_timeout_seconds`
- `base_url`, `api_key`

Environment overrides:

- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_PROVIDER`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_MODEL`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_REASONING_EFFORT`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_MAX_TOKENS`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_CWD`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_RUNTIME_CWD`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_DSH_BIN`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_PROFILE`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_DSH_HOME`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_INITIALIZE_TIMEOUT_SECONDS`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_REQUEST_TIMEOUT_SECONDS`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_SHUTDOWN_TIMEOUT_SECONDS`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_BASE_URL`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_API_KEY`

The default `profile` is `sdk-minimal`, so VeADK can inject the exact DSH tool and skill plugins it owns. Callers may opt into DSH's fuller `sdk` profile; in that mode VeADK patches the existing skill filesystem plugin configuration rather than inserting a duplicate plugin set.

`request_timeout_seconds` defaults to `None`, which leaves the SDK run unbounded at the VeADK layer. Production callers should set it when a hard turn deadline is required.

## Security and Isolation

Generated `DSH_HOME` paths are process-owned temporary directories. Configured `dsh_home`, `cwd`, and `runtime_cwd` are expanded and resolved before use. The runtime passes `api_key` and `base_url` only through SDK config; redaction of DSH internals belongs to DSH.

User prompts and session IDs are untrusted input. Session IDs are hashed rather than embedded raw into DSH identifiers.

## Compatibility and Evolution

The component is additive. Existing runtime values and configs remain unchanged. Future versions may add checklist enforcement, descendant-session projection, and finer cancellation only after the PRD/spec contract is updated and covered by tests.

## Observability and Failures

The runtime logs selected model/provider and session identity at a non-secret level. SDK import errors, initialization errors, and run errors propagate unless an ADK on-model-error callback returns a fallback `LlmResponse`.

# Runtime DeepSeek Harness 组件

[English](README.md)

ID:** `runtime-deepseek-harness`
- **所属代码:** `veadk/runtime/deepseek_harness/`、`veadk/runtime/__init__.py`、`veadk/agent.py` runtime 字段、runtime 支持矩阵条目。
- **主要测试:** `tests/runtime/deepseek_harness/`
PRD:** [DSH Runtime](../../prd-spec/features/deepseek-harness-runtime/2026-10-15-deepseek-harness-runtime.zh.md)

- 公开 runtime 取值:`Agent(runtime="dsh")`。
- 公开配置导入:`from veadk.runtime.deepseek_harness import DeepSeekHarnessRuntimeConfig`。
- 外部 SDK import:`deepseek_harness`。
- Runtime 调度:`veadk.runtime.get_runtime("dsh")`。

`VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_*` 前缀环境变量覆盖对应字段。
** DSH `session_id` 对 `(app_name, user_id, session_id, agent name)` 元组稳定。
** 可转交的 `sub_agents` 通过注入式 `transfer_to_agent` 工具暴露。
** ADK flow-only 能力继续由 `veadk.runtime.compat` 覆盖。

- `provider`、`model`、`reasoning_effort`、`max_tokens`
- `cwd`、`runtime_cwd`、`dsh_bin`、`profile`、`patches`、`dsh_home`
- `env`、`initialize_timeout_seconds`、`request_timeout_seconds`、`shutdown_timeout_seconds`
- `base_url`、`api_key`

- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_PROVIDER`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_MODEL`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_REASONING_EFFORT`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_MAX_TOKENS`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_CWD`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_RUNTIME_CWD`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_DSH_BIN`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_PROFILE`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_DSH_HOME`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_INITIALIZE_TIMEOUT_SECONDS`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_REQUEST_TIMEOUT_SECONDS`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_SHUTDOWN_TIMEOUT_SECONDS`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_BASE_URL`
- `VEADK_DEEPSEEK_HARNESS_API_KEY`
