+## Temporary directory and JNA

+Testcontainers uses [JNA](https://github.com/java-native-access/jna) (directly, and via [docker-java](https://github.com/docker-java/docker-java)) to talk to the container runtime.
+By default JNA extracts a small native library under `/tmp` (typically `/tmp/jna`) and loads it from there.
+
+If `/tmp` is mounted with the `noexec` flag, that load fails with an error similar to:

+Point JNA at a directory that allows execution with the JVM system properties `jna.tmpdir` and `java.io.tmpdir`.
