environment.yml does not work on my mac

I've executed the command conda env update -f environment.yml in an activated conda env on my macOS, and got the following error:

PackagesNotFoundError: The following packages are not available from current channels:                         
                                                                                                               
  - numba-cuda[version='>=0.24.0']

Apparently numba-cuda is not supported for macOS platform.

It looks like it was added 4 months ago in this commit and it was added to both the environment.yml and pyproject.toml.

I think I tried it a few weeks ago and got the same error but forgot to report It . When I remove that from the yml file, it works.

I wonder if @gmarkall or @isVoid might know if something has changed?

I'm currently on an M2 Macbook and can see that pixi installed:

numba-cuda                        0.14.1        pyhcf101f3_0         391.08 KiB  conda  https://conda.anaconda.org/conda-forge

But numba-cuda is currently at version 0.30.1 so what is being installed is severely behind!

I removed numba-cuda in c63b042
