Although I'd like to see support expand to include any backend (such as sockets for myself).

I would also possibly advise against using $resource since it's not actually in the base Angular lib.

I'm not opposed to merging this into AngularUI at all, it actually just never occurred to me. $resource isn't a requirement, I just showed an example with it because that's how I've been using it. You can, of course, just use $http straight up.

I haven't played with sockets in a while, so I'd have to figure out what to do, but it'd be great to maybe have something API-compatible with $http that could be a generic solution to anything that does remote calls ($resource included).

Yeah I was poring over the code to see how it could be abstracted further to just support sockets but alas I haven't even reviewed our socket file-uploading code (yet) so I don't know the nuances.

Pretty nifty what you did, only concern is iterating over the dataset looking for file data, but I can see the reasoning behind this.

Also, anywhere you do $() I think you can simply convert to angular.element() but don't quote me on that

Yeah, as it says, that part of the code is currently unused, but it was actually pretty well-tested when I was working on it. As you can guess, the basic idea is to check for any file data, and if present, pack up the form in a FormData object to use in the XHR request.

I assumed element() was just for boxing DOM objects, but I'll give it a shot, thanks.

Anyway, once this is a bit more feature-complete, cleaned up and tested, I'd be happy to toss it over to AngularUI.
