A lot of effort has been put into the default Python syntax definition that ships with Sublime Text over the past years, rendering effectively everything that the readme lists as a feature over the default as obsolete. Especially the catch-phrase "THE MOST POPULAR AND MOST FEATURE RICH PYTHON SYNTAX HIGHLIGHTER FOR SUBLIME TEXT" seems a bit misleading, though I guess it is popular on Package Control.
It would honestly be better if people didn't forego the default syntax and would instead get the benefits of a well-maintained or even contribute to it so that every ST user could benefit from it - out of the box!
Cython is a different story since that is not included, however.
