Menu does not display preperly when zoom is enabled

This issue applies to all Cinnamon menu applets, not just this one. Apparently, there is a known bug in Clutter that affects the way menus display their entries when zoom is enabled. The symptoms are that the menu items disappear unless the mouse is over them while the desktop is zoomed. I am visually impaired and the environment is not usable unless I can use the zoom function.

The issue with clutter was brought to my attention by a Cinnamon dev when I reported the issue to the Cinnamon team. Here's the discussion:

Can you please implement the workaround on both of your menu applets

WOW! Sorry to hear about your loss of internet - that would result in
major withdrawal symptoms for me if it happened here. I look forward to
