When you use a {% data variables.copilot.copilot_agent_short %} in an IDE, {% data variables.copilot.copilot_cli %}, or the {% data variables.copilot.github_copilot_app %}, content exclusion prevents the agent from accessing excluded files through {% data variables.product.prodname_copilot_short %} tools and checks identifiable file paths in commands and scripts before running them, but might not detect indirect file access. Content exclusion is not a substitute for operating-system permissions or other access controls.
