New version keeps the old doi identifier in mtd

The new version of the item could have the old DOI identifier while it is still a workspace item.

@milanmajchrak Based on my PR #1018, it is. There is also test scenario 49. But for now, we are not using DOI, are we? This scenario is still flagged as unmerged.
