From d0a5b6d6bec4483886e0294fc4c401290416b059 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: dataatsky Date: Sun, 27 Sep 2026 14:15:06 +0200 Subject: [PATCH 1/7] Make the world own agent state and fix scenario loading - TextWorld is now the single source of truth for each agent's hunger, mood, goal, position and inventory; hunger rises in world.update(). - Add a VERBS registry (+ aliases) and validate_action(), so every action must use a known verb and a target the agent can actually reach. - Scenario loader reads objects declared inside rooms, derives affordances from object type, supports locked doors, per-scenario hunger rate and toggles for random events / neighbor visits. - Items in open containers can be taken directly ("take key"). - Restore idle-object perception and surface the SensoryCortex qualia. - Every scenario now declares a scripted SOLUTION and FAILURE, and tests/test_scenarios.py proves each is winnable and losable. run_loop() and benchmark.py both call it, so benchmarks exercise the real cognition. - agent_status is a read-only view of the world's agent; a fresh world is seeded from config, a scenario world keeps its own state. - Apply the subconscious emotional shift once per cycle (it was applied twice, doubling every level_delta). - Drop ungrounded impulses before imagining; replace an ungrounded final decision with the strongest grounded impulse. - Goals: adopt a proposed goal only when none is active; support goal_status completed/abandoned. - Theory of Mind runs when another agent speaks or at most every TOM_INTERVAL cycles, using what they actually said. - Default AGENT_GOAL is now empty so Adam proposes his own goals. - Fix /get_state current_goal, which read a non-existent attribute. Replace instructor + openai with ollama.chat(format=), so replies always parse; the verb field is an enum built from VERBS. - Re-ask the model with the validation error when a reply doesn't fit. - Collapse the six endpoint bodies into one handler; fallbacks are marked with "psyche_fallback": true. - Prompts: generate the verb toolbox from the registry, show reachable objects/items/exits/doors, give reflection the world state and a goal_status field. - Fix failed-action counting ("open the" -> "open fridge"). - Pass adamsec prompt-injection text through to the prompts so the harness actually tests something. - Refresh requirements pins to the installed versions. Psyche Service (LLM) -The Flask service in `psyche_ollama.py` has been upgraded to **Phase 1 Robustness standards**: +The Flask service in `psyche_ollama.py`: -- **Strict Schema Enforcement**: Uses `instructor` to guarantee valid JSON outputs for every request. No more parsing errors. -- **Templated Prompts**: All prompts are logically separated in `templates/*.j2`, making personality tweaks easy. -- **Parallel Cognition**: `imagine_batch` endpoint allows imagining multiple scenarios simultaneously. +- **Schema-constrained output**: every call passes the Pydantic response schema to Ollama as `format`, so replies are always valid JSON. The `verb` field is an enum generated from `text_world.VERBS`, so the LLM cannot invent verbs. If a reply still fails validation, the model is re-asked with the error (`OLLAMA_RETRIES`). +- **Templated Prompts**: All prompts live in `templates/*.j2`; the verb toolbox is generated from the registry, and the reflection prompt sees exactly what Adam can reach. +- **Parallel Cognition**: the `imagine_batch` endpoint imagines several candidate actions in one call. +- **Graceful degradation**: on model errors each endpoint returns a schema-shaped fallback marked `"psyche_fallback": true`. - Contracts (Pydantic): - `POST /generate_impulse` → `{ emotional_shift, impulses[] }` - `POST /imagine` → `{ outcome }` - `POST /imagine_batch` → `{ outcomes[] }` - - `POST /reflect` → `{ final_action, reasoning, new_goal }` - - `POST /consolidate` → `{ insight }` (NEW in Phase 3) - - `POST /reflect` (Phase 4 Update) → `{ ..., new_goal, new_goal_plan }` + - `POST /reflect` → `{ final_action, reasoning, thoughts_on_others, constitutional_check, goal_status, new_goal, new_goal_plan }` + - `POST /consolidate` → `{ insight }` + - `POST /theory_of_mind` → `{ agent_id, predicted_goal, beliefs[], trust_level, potential_threat }` --- -## 9. Agency & Autonomy (Phase 4) +## 9. Agency & Autonomy -Adam is no longer just reactive. He exhibits **Long-Term Autonomy**: - -* **Dynamic Goals**: If Adam has no goal, he asks Psyche to propose one based on his needs (e.g., "I am hungry" → "Find Food"). -* **Hierarchical Planning**: Psyche breaks down goals into steps (e.g., `["Find Key", "Unlock Door"]`), and `TextWorld` tracks progress. +* **Dynamic Goals**: With no goal (the default, `AGENT_GOAL` empty), Adam proposes one based on his needs and surroundings, with a short plan of `verb target` steps. A new goal is adopted only when he has none, so rephrasings don’t reset progress. +* **Goal lifecycle**: each reflection reports `goal_status`: `continue`, `completed`, or `abandoned`. Plans with steps also complete automatically when the last step succeeds (`go kitchen` counts as done once Adam arrives in the kitchen). * **Skill Acquisition**: The `InsightEngine` tracks successful actions. "Mastered Skills" (high success rate) are fed back into the subconscious to encourage using known-good tools. +* **Theory of Mind**: when another agent is present, Adam models their beliefs and goals, again whenever they speak, and otherwise at most every `TOM_INTERVAL` cycles. --- -## 10.
