Migrate merkl to use API key #534

@antoncoding

Description

@antoncoding
  • Merkl is introducing API key system
What's changing: Until now, you've been able to call our API directly from your frontend without authentication. Going forward, calls should go through your backend using an API key. It's a small change on your side, but it unlocks proper usage tracking and a much more stable integration long-term.

Timeline: We're giving everyone time to migrate smoothly. Starting June 30, we'll begin rate-limiting unauthenticated calls.
Unauthenticated access will keep working past that date, but with a few important changes:

-New features won't be available to unauthenticated calls
-Unauthenticated calls will remain rate-limited
-They'll run on a less reliable infrastructure tier (so expect occasional slowdowns or downtime)

Migration: The process is straightforward and well-documented, full guide here: https://developers.merkl.xyz/integrate-merkl/quickstart
If anything's unclear or you hit a blocker during the migration, just ping us here. We'll walk you through it. 🙏
