No LMK setting

There is no LMK setting in v17.7. I see this setting in FKM, Kernel Aduitor, MTweaks and v17.6

I use kernels with ALMK. Is LMK setting deliberately removed from app?

I think that's the case, i.e there's no LMK setting page in the app if the device runs on ALMK.

Why is it then available and working in above apps and old v17.6?

hi, I've been meaning to add something here, just in case someone needs this one day 😁

It seems there were some major changes to the way the low memory killer worked especially with Android 11 (I guess this is alluded to in #150), with the kernel driver being replaced by the userspace lmkd.

After a little digging, I found out how to alter the LMK settings as before, and now use a script executed on boot by SmartPack (putting it in /data/adb/service.d/ should work) to alter these parameters. This is the current version:

The most important properties are:

• resetprop ro.lmk.use_minfree_levels true to use the free memory thresholds as before (these are the numbers that you would previously have changed in the app, see below)

• resetprop sys.lmk.minfree_levels 18432:0,23040:100,27648:200,32256:250,55296:900,80640:950
  the free memory thresholds (I found these values in an XDA thread for a device with 8GB RAM, they seem to be helping on my current device with 12GB)

  • I think kernels < 4.12 may still need echo {values} > /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree

• setprop lmkd.reinit 1
  to restart the daemon
