unable to message registered contact

Hi one side running Tahoe on Apple Silicon, other latest MacOS on Intel macbook. Both installed latest version of MeshchatX.
Trying to add to contacts doesn't work : getting 'Error ingesting message from URI : Invalid LXMA public key'.
When trying to do a new chat from messsages window and adding LXMA adress, getting : 'This peer is not in your contacts. Attachments from strangers are blocked.'
When adding to contacts and sending message, we're always getting a 'sending failed' message.
We're unable to troubleshoot the issue so thanks for your help.

I'm having the same issue as well on a Mac with the sending failed part when sending messages. I can receive them just fine.

how did you manage to set up your connections ? While manually entering the other side's address, it's not being accepted.

Its open-source, free and funded purely on donations software. I am the only active developer on the project so please be patient. I do not have a Mac currently to test and debug things on that OS. Try disabling stamps in settings or setting to 0.

hi, is the the 'Inbound Message Stamp Cost' setting ? It doesn't allow a 0 setting for me (default 254). When i set it to 1, after hitting return, it jumps back to 254. It also doesn't allow me to toggle the 'Require inbound stamps'. When i try to turn it of, it turns back on.

when installing app on my macbook air (also running Apple Silicon) even though i announced both identities, I'm still unable to communicate and the about section of the macbook air also has a 'tampering detected' alert stating :

in these conditions it's quite a challenge to try out this app !

I have fixed some issues and bugs so when I do next release (likely June 12th) should hopefully be more usable on Mac otherwise I will keep working on this. Eventually I will purchase a Mac so I can debug deeper.

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents. This is basically alpha software, but that's what we're here for - to help find bugs and make it even more awesome.

To anyone having messaging issues, try setting your "announce" time to more often (I use 15). I think it's a reticulum issue/feature. This seems to fix messaging in both directions.

Regarding adding people: the copy your own code feature doesn't work correctly. For instance when I copy mine, I get this:

I'm guessing it's an easy fix.

Regarding the tampering issue:
This is just a guess so take it with a grain of salt, but I think it just checks against a bad metric. The size of the database is of course going to grow as your network grows. It seems that anytime the database changes size/adds any data, you get a tampering warning. Again, just a guess on that, but it doesn't worry me much.

Please feel free to point out my idiocy or misunderstandings. 😂
