[BUG] Firebase Hosting GitHub Action fails with "supplied version is the current active version" but changes are still deployed

I'm using the FirebaseExtended/action-hosting-deploy@v0 GitHub Action to deploy a Flutter web application to Firebase Hosting. Every time I push changes to my code, the action runs and fails with an HTTP 400 error. However, despite the failure, the new changes are actually reflected on the live production site.

Project type: Flutter web application (build output is in build/web).

Action used: FirebaseExtended/action-hosting-deploy@v0.

Firebase project ID: hotel-delivery-65492.

Trigger: The workflow runs on push to the main branch.

Local behavior: If I run firebase deploy --only hosting locally, it works perfectly without any errors.

Can confirm, seeing these exact symptoms across all my firebase hosting CI actions.

Started getting these issues immediately after this bug was resolved: firebase/firebase-tools#10716, although I'm not 100% convinced it is related.

its an issue on nodejs, by freezing the nodejs versions mentioned in post fixed the issue.

same here. Fixed with pinning the node version to 22.23.1. node-version: '22' is not enough and then failed

This could be related to this Node.js bug nodejs/node#63989 that is affecting Node.js v22.23.0 and v24.17.0. I think the Firebase Hosting GitHub Action may be using Node.js 24.17.0 by default. As mention in #460 (comment), pinning the Node.js version to v22.23.1(or v24.18.0) should work around this.

As for the error thrown by firebase-tools:

There is an open report here firebase/firebase-tools#10730, and it has been raised to our engineering team.

@aalej I can confirm that this is the best solution for now, errors related to firebase missing login and errors related to #10730 were solved
