Being a member in groups where lots of messages are written I want to read them later "in bulk". After clicking on the group chat I'm being scrolled to the position of the last unread message. That's fine.
As soon as I leave the chat to for example redirect one of the messages to someone or I have to interrupt my reading pleasure for some reason I can not resume it easily. So as soon as I open the chat again I will be scrolled to the newest message and my progress is gone.
Would it be possible to handle this like Telegram does? There's a read counter in the lower right corner of the app decreasing with every read message and you can always resume where you left off.'
Nive to hace: If you click the floating carret button twice you are being scrolled to the most recent position in the (group) chat.
I personally find this behaviour very user friendly and Delta Chat Desktop already preserves the last reading position 🙏
Why do you think it is useful:
It's frustrating to scroll hundreds of messages up again and again to find the one you've left the chat window before. So the current behaviour mostly results in not reading the messages and that's not the purpose of those chats I think :-)
